John Sylvester is an internationally published travel, nature and landscape photographer based in Prince Edward Island, Canada. He specializes in photographing the people and places of Canada, with an emphasis on the Atlantic region. His image of sparring red foxes in Prince Edward Island National Park, which appeared on the cover of the December 2010 issue of Canadian Geographic magazine, took the prize in the “Best Action Photo” category. His image of Torngat Mountains National Park, which appeared in the Nov/Dec 2010 issue of Saltscapes magazine, won in the “Best Evocation of a Place Photo” category. The awards were presented at a gala reception held May 5 at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, during the TMAC annual convention. The photography competition was judged by internationally renowned photojournalist, Boris Spremo. Several of John's images are featured in the beautiful book, "Canada's National Parks – A Celebration" commemorating the 125th anniversary of Canada's national parks and the 2011 centennial of Parks Canada as the world's first parks service.
